Rui Farrant debuts in the black jersey at the Coral Coast Sevens last weekend.

Although his All Blacks Sevens Development side got knocked out in the quarter finals, Rui Farrant says pulling on the black jersey for the first time at the Coral Coast Sevens tournament last weekend was an “absolutely brilliant and humbling” experience and a huge milestone in his burgeoning rugby career.

The rising star credits the island as the place his sporting prowess began, starting as a junior at Waiheke Rugby Club before heading to the Waikato, where he’s now secured a two year NPC contract as well as his representative Sevens involvement.
