
A juvenile New Zealand fur seal made an unexpected appearance at Waiheke Marina last Thursday.
The kekeno was reported by bystanders as “resting comfortably” on a pontoon for a few hours before it headed back to deeper water.
Leigh Joyce of the Department of Conservation says this was the first time a seal has been reported at Kennedy Point in recent years.
