The Waiheke Local Board has voted to support most of proposed changes to Auckland Council’s dog bylaw and adopt policy changes to dog access rules at three island beaches.

The changes are mostly aimed at ensuring the bylaw is clear and easy to understand, while also adjusting a few rules and dog policy.

They includes a proposal to introduce a limit on walking dogs of no more the six dogs per person. In off-leash areas up to three of the dogs would be allowed unleashed, with up to three more on leads.
