Waiheke Community Housing Trust general manager Damian Sycamore says the island has long grappled with a critical shortage of one- and two-bedroom long-term rentals.

The Waiheke Community Housing Trust held a hui at the Waiheke Bowling Club last Wednesday 23 July focused on a ‘no-brainer,’ ‘pragmatic’ solution to the island’s housing crisis.

The housing trust’s Damian Sycamore says the island has long grappled with a critical shortage of one- and two-bedroom long-term rentals. At the same time hundreds of dwellings that size are locked into short-term visitor accommodation – since that was what they were consented as.
