Island musician Sammy Leary was awarded best Kiwiana album at the Aotearoa Folk Alliance Awards this week, for his debut solo album, Old Bush Road. 

The album, which was recorded by Sammy in an Ōmiha garden shed, includes Sammy’s concertina and Irish tenor banjo playing accompanying his simple and resonant vocals.
