Waiheke crash statistics show most serious crashes on the island don’t happen at an intersection, and a third of deaths and serious injuries on our roads are motorcycle or moped riders.

Auckland Transport recently briefed the Waiheke Local Board on their new Transport Safety Engagement Tool, which uses statistical data and community feedback to make regions roads safer. This brief included a report on Waiheke road safety issues, and potential actions for the board and Auckland Council to take, based on Waka Kotahi’s Crash Analysis System data on deaths and serious injuries from 2020 through 2024.
