WITI chair Christina Hyde says Waiheke businesses are optimistic for 2026, with signs the national economy is turning a corner, but need support from their community to ensure they make it through the last leg of the long post-pandemic recovery.

Waiheke business group WITI is joining Buy NZ Made’s call for a return of the grassroots ‘buy local’ campaigns as liquidations surge to 14-year high nationally.

Buy NZ Made executive director Dane Ambler says the latest data shows while overall confidence in the economy appears to be improving, small and medium enterprise (SME) liquidations have surged to a 14-year high.
