Forest and Bird recently kicked off its Arohatai Tikapa Moana/Love the Gulf campaign, aiming to fight the effects of overfishing, sedimentation run-off and climate change in the Hauraki Gulf, at the Piritahi Marae.
Among the presentations at the launch, ecological group Revive Our Gulf gave a update on its efforts to restore the beds of native green-lipped mussel, kūtai, that once blanketed the Gulf seabed, and a presentation on the science backing their approach.
