It’s time to switch to fibre as copper retirement nears

Chorus is advising Waihekeans to switch to fibre internet technology ahead the projected retirement of its copper phone and broadband network by 2030.

Of around 6000 households on Waiheke, about 4400 are already using the Chorus fibre network. Only around 75 households are still dependent on a copper connection, down from over 2000 connections just five years ago.
