The kārearea New Zealand falcon has clawed its way back into the top spot for the second time to be crowned the winner of the 20th annual Bird of the Year competition.
The Forest and Bird event previously saw the kārearea, a high-speed hunter capable of diving at 200km/h, take the top honour in 2012.
