The cost of seeing a GP is about to increase in most clinics across the country, including on Waiheke, due to a funding shortfall in primary care. This includes first-contact health services like general practitioners (GPs), minor skin surgery, after-hours care and immunisation services.

The fee for a standard GP appointment at Waiheke’s medical centres varies. An appointment for a community service card holder at both Waiheke Medical Centre and Ostend Medical Centre costs $13 for youth aged 14 to 17 years, and $19.50 beyond that (no change).
