The final Hauraki Gulf forum of the year was held, for the first time, at the Waiheke Local Board offices in Ostend. Several topics involving the health of the Gulf were discussed at the meeting on Monday 4 December, including alternate uses for kina waste, the Parnell sinkhole wastewater solution, the proposed 4.1km pipeline to divert treated wastewater into the Hauraki Gulf and caulerpa updates from three different groups. • Silvia Massa
