More pressure is being brought to bear on the big fuel companies as Energy and Transport Minister Simeon Brown calls for an explanation on high price variations at the pump.
Brown was spurred to write the letter by a protest campaign in Thames, where residents were pushing back against paying around 20 cents per litre more for their fuel than the national average – pump prices that are still roughly 60 cents cheaper than they are on Waiheke. The Minister visited Thames last week, and in an interview with Coromandel FM he was asked for his thoughts on the recent outcry in the town over the issue.
