The island’s pottery spaces are bursting at the seams after long-term efforts to cultivate the craft on the island bear fruit. But finding new spaces, while urgent, are proving difficult and could jeopardise the local art gallery’s ceramics diploma warns the gallery’s director.

Waiheke Art Gallery, with support from the Catherine Mitchell Art Centre, recently pitched to the Waiheke Local Board the need for a new pottery workshop space due to ever increasing demand.
