Seaside singing welcomes holiday season

A warm summer evening with a light breeze set the scene for picnic goers and popular carols at Little Oneroa on Saturday at the Carols by the Sea event.

A great turn out ensured the entire Little Oneroa reserve hill was filled with people and smiles.

The children were up first with Elvis Presley’s Blue Christmas, a great way to start, with the parents proudly watching their rising stars.

Waiheke High School student Sahara Adams added a lovely acoustic vibe to the atmosphere with her guitar and vocals and duo Julion Wright and Ben Kara came back to us after a few years away, offering some impressive talent.

To finish with flair, a mixed group of island singers, Super Group, got everyone up and dancing by putting a funky twist on some old favourites.

Waiheke Youth Voice, along with Auckland Council, did an excellent job of creating and managing this event.

The crowd were well behaved and kept to the smoke-free rules. In the spirit of the season, performers engaged their audience and sent them home happy.
