Now that everybody should have the new Auckland Council rating valuations for their properties, Gulf News has put together some information on what to do if you think it’s wrong or you are worried about being able to pay your rates.

Ratepayers have until 25 July to object to their rating valuation, but what grounds can you object on?

According to the Auckland Council, there is no guarantee your valuation will change – and it can go up or down on review, which could lead to your rates going up further or going down. Your objection must be based on a valid ‘technical’ reason and have supporting evidence.
